Hi everyone and welcome to the GialloZafferano kitchen. I’m Sonia and today we’ll be preparing a fun dessert that’s perfect for making along with children: Chocolate salami! Let’s see what we’ll need:
½ cup of sugar
3 ½ oz of plain cookies
2 tablespoons of rum
2 eggs
7 tbsp of room-temperature butter
7 oz of chocolate.
Let’s get to work!
Cut the chocolate into pieces and set it to melt either in a bain marie or in a heat-proof bowl set over a another pot of boiling water until smooth. Turn off the heat and let it cool. Next, place the butter into a bowl along with the sugar and beat together until creamy. Now, add the eggs. Beat them a bit first to break the yolks and then mix until uniform.
Now add the rum. Mix again and then you can add the melted chocolate which is by now cooled a bit. Mix everything well, and we’re ready for the next step.
In this bowl, I’ve broken the cookies into pieces and now I’ll add them to the chocolate. Mix everything together well.
I’ve poured the mixture into the centre of a sheet of parchment paper. With a spatula, form the mixture into a long roll. Roll it up into the paper to maintain the long sausage shape.
Now, place the roll onto a couple of sheets of tin foil and roll it into a cylinder. After you’ve got your shape, leave in the fridge to set for at least 3 hours.
Here’s our chocolate salami ready to be tasted! I’ve taken it out of the paper, cut it into slices and set it on a platter. Buon appetito from GialloZafferano, and see you next time!
