How to Make Italian Easter Bread (VIDEO)

Recipe: How to Make Italian Easter Bread:

3 eggs room temperature
4-5 cups of flour (more if needed)
Pinch of salt
¾ cup of sugar
Shot glass of Anisette
½ cup milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 stick of butter melted
½ cup of water 110 degrees
1 package of yeast
1 tsp. sugar


Proof yeast in water with teaspoon of sugar. Melt butter and milk together. Allow to cool. When the yeast has foamed add it to flour, eggs and all remaining ingredients in a food processor. Pulse until well blended. Dough should be sticky.

Knead on floured board until smooth and silky. Let rise until double in bulk; usually one to two hours. Form braids and let rise again; usually from one to two hours.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes then egg wash entire loaf. Bake another 15 to 20 minutes until bread is golden brown. This recipe makes two medium loaves or one large loaf.
