Italian Meringues – Easy recipe (ENGLISH) (VIDEO)

The meringues rapresent an easy dessert ideal for breaks during the day or for decorating other cakes. The recipe is extremely easy and it requires just 2 ingredients.

I like them any way – but small covered with chocolate is my favourite. These are called Bengasini and they were very common in Italy during the 80’s – I love them along with a good italian espresso

INGREDIENTS:

150 gr (5.3 Oz) of Egg white
450 gr (15.9 Oz) of sugar

PROCESS:

Beat the egg white into a big bowl – add slowly all the sugar. This step should take 4.30/5 minutes to have the right density at the end. You know you that you are done when the egg white is stiffed and you see a little corn when pulling the whisker out.

Use a sac a poché (pressure bag?) to create the meringues on a baking tray you previously covered with baking paper.

Pre-heat the oven at 120°C (248 °F) and let the meringues cook for 2 hrs (if not done turn off the oven and let them in).

Finish by decorating as you want – with cream – chocolate or eat the meringues as they are…ultimately you can use them to decorate cakes or in Ice cream 🙂
