Vegan Sabor | Italian Calzone (VIDEO)
|Recipe:
Add one cup of all-purpose flour to the bowl.
In a cup add about 200 ml of warm water (not hot), 1 teaspoon of caster sugar and 8 grams of dry yeast.
Mix well with a spoon, cover with a towel and wait until mix rises and becomes foamy.
Add a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, pinch of salt and yeast mix to the flower.
Start working the mix for about 2 minutes, then let it rest in the bowl covered with a towel in room temperature until it doubles its size.
Prepare your filling: I used vegan cheddar flavored and parmesan flavored cheese, portobello mushrooms and red sweet peppers for this.
For the sauce I used fresh tomato juice, blended onions and fresh basil. Salt and fresh pepper too, of course
Later on sprinkle flour on to your working surface and start spreading the dough using your hands only until it becomes as thin as you prefer (my recommendation is about 3mm thick).
Add your sauce and filling and flip the dough in order to create the calzone shape.
Sprinkle the top with olive oil and fresh basil.
Preheat your oven and the tray to the highest possible temperature of your oven ( mine only reaches 250 Celsius).
Place calzone on to tray and straight into the oven.
Let bake for as long as it takes for the dough to become golden brown and yummy. (About ten minutes).
* Recommendation: Fresh pomegranate juice with soda water and ice
