Homemade Calzone (VIDEO)

How to make calzone one of my family’s favorite Dinners. It’s a fun twist on traditional pizza. I start by making pizza dough. You can use your favorite pizza dough recipe or you can make my natural yeast pizza dough which is shown in the video. Then you spread out the dough on a greased pan and put on your favorite toppings. You don’t have to put any topping on that are shown in the video. They are all optional including the ricotta cheese, this is just how we make it and what we love on our calzone. The orange juice is a natural dough conditioner that is also a little bit of a sweetener. I used to always use orange juice in my recipes but I could never use it fast enough and it would go bad. Now I just use frozen orange juice concentrate so I always have it on hand and it lasts a long time. It is not necessary to make the pizza dough but this is how I always make it.

Dough
1/2 Cup Natural Yeast
2 1/2 Cups Water
1 tsp Garlic Salt
1 tsp Salt
1 TBSP Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate
Or 2 TBSP Orange Juice
6-7 Cups flour
2 TBSP Olive Oil

Toppings (all are optional)
4 oz Ricotta Cheese w/Garlic Salt and Parmesan Cheese
8 oz Mozzarella Cheese
Pepperoni
Italian Sausage
Mushrooms
Bell Peppers

Bake at 400 Degrees F (or 205 Degrees C) for 40 minutes or until crust is golden and inside is bubbling.
