Panettone cake: Ingredients, calories and its Christmas origin (VIDEO)

Panettone is an Italian sweet loaf of bread stuffed with raisins.
It’s consumed as a Christmas cake.

ORIGINAL INGREDIENTS:
Yolks- butter- water- flour- candied orange- raisins.

VARIATIONS:
– Without dried fruits it is known as Pandoro.
– You can dip it into whipped cream or Nutella.
– It’s also made with honey.

ORIGINS:
Since medieval times, Milan’s families gathered on Christmas day to break a big loaf of bread together.

“Pan de ton” (luxurious bread) made with pure wheat and butter was only for the rich, and for everybody during Christmas.

Panettone spread across Italy in the 1950s through mass production.
